Jason has been drifting competitively since March 2007. In his very first event he qualified 6th and finished up placing 3rd.
The next few events didn’t go as well as he had hoped with teething mechanical problems taking hold. As the final round of D1NZ came around in late 2007 jason and his team had made a few crucial changes to the car to make it perform as planned, he drove consistently and qualified 11th. In his top 16 battle he drove hard but didn’t quite come out victorious.
For the start of the 2008 season Jason and his team carried out a lot more weight reduction and retuned the RB20DET in the quest to the drivability of the car. The retune got the car to where it is today at 252kw at the rear wheels.
Recently, at the first round of the 2008 NZ Drift series Jason was rolling on a high. He headed into the event with confidence and it showed in his driving, as he was coming into the infamous pukekohe sweeper at the fastest speeds he has ever been. Jason again qualified in the top 5 with a 5th place qualifying result. In his top 16 battle he won in a difficult fight and put him through to the top 8. Jason’s top 8 battle was an epic battle with both drivers holding a lot of angle and pumping mega amounts of smoke. Fortunately for Jason his opponent made a small mistake and this placed him into the top 4 once again.
This opportunity to go to Singapore for formula drift and is going to be a big character builder and an awesome experience. Jason is sponsored by Goodyear tyres.
